About Me

I'm Liz.

I’m Liz.

Hello,

I’m Liz, I live in the far south west of Cornwall in the UK with my husband, teenage daughter, 5 hens, 1 rooster and my little jack russel Bella.

I don’t really know who will read this blog, if anyone. But I wanted to keep a diary of sorts of our little adventures at home with our chickens and dogs and out and about in Cornwall. I hope if you do read this, you enjoy!

Life is good, we live on a small holding shared with 3 other households. We are all great friends and enjoy sharing food, stories and a bottle of wine in the court yard on a long summer’s evening or a chat around the fire pit on a clear autumn night.

We live in a very little village made up of a dozen or so cottages, a shop, post office and a pub, all gathered snuggly around a tiny crossroads. It’s a very idyllic way of life with everyone still leaving their doors unlocked and babies being left in their prams outside the shop door while parents do their gossiping inside.

We take long walks and cycle rides, walk the dog along the Towans and spend time with our friends putting the world to rights around the campfire drinking G&Ts

I work full time for a local textile designer Poppy Treffry. Β I make her bags in her studio near Newlyn in Cornwall and I also manage her shop in St Ives.

Like so many of you, I love to sew, crochet, eat chocolate and drink tea (black Earl Grey please).

I particularly like to make my own clothes at the moment, I picked up a pattern one day and thought “how hard can it be?” HA! I learnt the hard way that day! But I still think that’s the best way to learn….doing things your own way and learning from your mistakes. What’s the worst that can happen?!

You will see throughout this blog that that is pretty much my attitude towards everything.

    Dear Liz,
all of the above sounds wonderful. Just the kind of life we’re looking for. We lived in Cornwall for a while some years back, but sadly it didn’t quite work out for us. Moving to another country, starting our business – I suppose it was all too much.
But Cornwall never left us and we will never stop searching for a way to go back. So living on a small farm with equal-minded people, growing your own food, keeping your own chickens (and dogs), sewing, crocheting… Yep, sounds dreamy! πŸ™‚
    All the best, Danica
